Ring TRACEFORM, an electrician in Stretford open 24/7, with your M32 postcode and what has happened. Emergency arrival is typically under 60 minutes, and the call-out price is confirmed before we drive. For rewires, boards and landlord certificates we survey first and give you a fixed quote on the spot.

Request a callbackIn England the electrics in a rented home must be inspected and tested at least every five years. Tenants need a copy within 28 days of the inspection, and new tenants before they move in.
Sparks, burning smells or a hot plug are urgent: stop using it, and call 999 if there is any danger. For anything else, tell your landlord or agent in writing. You are entitled to a copy of the electrical report.
For a fault, give us your M32 postcode and what you can see or smell. The call-out figure is fixed before the engineer leaves. Planned work gets a fixed quote after a survey visit.
An electrical installation condition report, or EICR, grades what the inspector finds using four codes.

Needs putting right. The report cannot be satisfactory until it is.
Something must be looked at more closely, without delay.
Not unsafe, and it does not fail the report, but worth planning.

The work was completed to a high standard, with great attention to detail, and everything was explained clearly. Really happy with the result and would definitely recommend their electrical services to anyone looking for a trustworthy and skilled electrician.”
“Our electrics kept tripping and we had no idea why. He found the faulty socket and sorted it on the same visit. Really pleased, thanks again 👍”
“Professional and friendly. Highly recommended”

Where faults usually start in a Stretford home.

Old two-core lighting cable may have no earth. Metal light fittings need one, so we check before anything new goes up.

Kettles, ovens and washing machines on one ring. A trip under load often means a tired connection, not too many appliances.

Water and older cable do not mix. Leaks through the ceiling into a light fitting are a frequent cause of night-time trips.

Garden sockets and lights let damp in. They are the first circuit we test when an RCD trips in wet weather.

Smoke alarms must work on every storey used as living accommodation. Mains-wired alarms can be tested at the same visit as an EICR.

Stretford's homes span more than a century. The terraces between Chester Road and the canal were built for families who worked at Trafford Park, many are now let, and plenty have had their wiring updated piece by piece by different owners. Around Longford Park the semis are larger and often extended. Near the town centre, older shops and a growing number of apartments share the streets. Whatever the house, we start with testing, explain the fault in plain language and agree the price before work starts.
Around the town centre and Chester Road. Tell us the block and the entrance, and whether a building manager holds the risers.
Built for Trafford Park's workers, and now often rented, so landlord reports and tenancy turnarounds are regular work here.
Often extended, with garden sockets and outside lights that are the first thing we test when an RCD trips in the wet.

| Gorse Hill's Edwardian terraces | Bay windows, a through lounge and a board under the stairs. Many are let, so we work to agents' instructions and leave paperwork the landlord can file. |
|---|---|
| Semis around Longford Park | Bigger inter-war houses with extensions, loft rooms and garden offices. Load added over the years is a common cause of nuisance tripping. |
| Apartments near the town centre | Modern boards in utility cupboards and shared risers. We need fob access and the building manager's contact before we arrive. |
Stretford grew fast once Trafford Park opened as an industrial estate at the end of the nineteenth century. Rows of bay-fronted terraces filled Gorse Hill and the streets off Chester Road, and the Victorian Gothic public hall, given to the town by John Rylands and built in 1879, became its civic centre. Rylands' own estate became Longford Park, bought by the council in 1911 and opened to the public the following year.
A large share of Stretford's terraces are rented, so condition reports come up often here. Landlords need a satisfactory EICR at least every five years and must give tenants a copy. Our landlord electrical safety and EICR guide explains the duties, deadlines and what happens when a report comes back unsatisfactory.
Apartments near the town centre are wired to modern standards, but a fault can still leave you in the dark at night. In new flats the usual fault is an RCBO that keeps tripping, traced to an appliance, a damp bathroom fan or water in an outside light on a balcony. We isolate the cause instead of swapping the board.
An electrician in Gorse Hill meets the same patterns street after street: lighting circuits with no earth, kitchen rings stretched to an extension, and older consumer units with one RCD covering every socket. In Firswood and on the Old Trafford edge, many houses are rented by students or young families, so we keep landlords informed and leave tenants with a clear note of what was done. Event days at the football and cricket grounds can make parking tricky, so tell us if your street has restrictions.
The larger semis around Longford Park have often been extended twice: a kitchen at the back and a loft room on top. New circuits added by different installers over the years can share a neutral or a protective device in ways that only show up when the board is changed. We test before we quote, so surprises are found at the survey.

| Landlord EICRs | Condition reports for terraces and flats, with plain-English notes and a separate quote for any remedial work. |
|---|---|
| Tripping and power loss | A board that trips at random, a dead kitchen ring or a flat that keeps losing power at night. |
| Terrace rewires | Bay-fronted Edwardian terraces rewired with care for plaster, cornices and floorboards. |
| Consumer unit upgrades | Older boards with limited RCD protection replaced and certified, after every circuit is tested. |
| Smoke and heat alarms | Mains-wired, interlinked alarms for rented homes and family houses. |
A weekday daytime emergency call-out is £110–£150, covering travel and the first hour of finding the fault. We confirm it on the phone before we set off, and we quote evenings, nights and weekends the same way. Planned work, such as a rewire or new board, is given a fixed quote at a survey.
We answer 24/7, and emergency arrival in M32 is typically under 60 minutes. Match days at Old Trafford and events nearby can slow the roads, so we give you an honest time for your street when you call.
Repairs to the electrical installation are normally the landlord's responsibility, so let them or the agent know straight away. If there is heat, smoke or a burning smell, make the home safe and call for help first. We can talk to your landlord or agent about payment before we start work.
Yes. We inspect, test and write the report, explain any C1, C2 or FI codes in plain English and quote separately for remedial work. Once it is done we retest and give you written confirmation to send to the tenant and the council within 28 days.
If the cable is old rubber or lead-sheathed, the lighting has no earth, or the board has no RCD protection, a rewire is often the right call. Many terraces only need part of the house doing. We test first and tell you honestly what is needed and what can wait.
